dude, mccain had already won by the time alot of our primaries came around, and the sad fact is that there werent alot of candidates with good stances on this issue in the first place. we vote from what we are given.

With all the respect to all of you,
I would like to say that there are ‘Hispanic’ illegal immigrants that come into the country and affect our everyday lives. However, there are those illegal immigrants that were brought here at such young ages that are struggling because they do not know any other life but the one in the States. I know about a girl who was brought here at the age of six and still to this day she is struggling trying to make ends meet, but there are no ends for her. I mean, could you send her back to Mexico to a life she has never known? She has been living in the States all her life. She was not able to decide as a young child to stay in Mexico or to come to the United States. Yet, she has to withstand all of this locomotion. It is a very difficult life for these people believe it or not because some of them should be citizens here. She pays taxes, goes to college to better her future (what future?),she owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. And you know what makes all of this happen for her? MONEY! Money makes her world go round as much as all the people that work in the government. Politicians do not care what you think about your insurance premiums, your tax money or your priveleges. When we vote it is our ‘popular vote’ that counts. Ultimately, it is up to the Electoral College and you know who they are? People with the MONEY. People who vote people in to keep the money coming to them. The system is a distortion of true democracy. Please, be realistic that it is not these peoples fault that they are led to leave their families for a ‘better life’ because their own government is corrupt. Do you really think they want to put up with what they are exposed to? You best believe that a lot of them don’t.

Just to add an empirical observation here — I live in California. By the time the CA primary took place this year, the best candidate on illegal immigration issues (Fred Thompson) had long since dropped out. You cannot logically blame a voter in my position for failing to vote in support of a candidate who was no longer running when my vote took place.

You guys all shout so much about illegal immigrants and yet go and vote in both democrats & Mccain who support Amnesty & path to legalisation of illegals…what the heck is this oxymoron???Can anyone explain that when the white folks go and vote these idiots into power and then yet they complain illegals immigration..I guess most of you must like illegal immigration othwerise you would not have ousted both Huckaby from the race and put deomcrats into power who wants Amnesty for 20 million!!!

i know this is a touchy subject for us all, and i’ve read many of your comments. I just want to add to what a lot of you have said about picking fruit and vegetables, scrubbing dishes and so forth. I am a white american female, I have been on my hands and knees daily scrubbing floors to put myself through school, until the day came that my boss found an illegal immigrant that would work for less money than I could agree to. I lost my job, and I’m barely making it right now. I’ve had to drop out of college because I simply cant afford it.

And please, stop with the racist stuff. I mean, really illegal immigrants are not all from Mexico, we have just as many coming from Canada, its just not publicized as much. Everyone is making assumptions about everyone else. I grew up on a farm where we all worked everyday in the heat to make a living. Just because I’m white doesnt mean we have it easy. Try valuing eachother for our differences instead of generalizing so much that we cant appreciate them.

I understand the need for a better life in America, but at the same time look at the people who have been trying so hard to come to this country legally. People in other countries who have it just as bad as say those in Mexico, maybe worse, but have stuck to their morals and principles and come here legally. It is not fair to those who have worked so hard for citizenship for us to just give out privilages to those who didnt.
