It seems this author thinks the French were responsible for liberating the colonies.
I thought that the French refused to publicly take a side until after the colonies had shown that they could take the British, as in Germantown. While I don’t blame the French for waiting, their delayed entrance doesn’t exactly rebut the “pussy” appelation.

It’s nice that both of our histories agree that France was overrun by Nazis.
It’s interesting, though, that Frenchie’s history has the French resistance being a major sponsor of the liberation.
The history that I learned includes the leader of the resistance running away from France, and trying to lead through public radio broadcasts from afar. and despite the fact that the only ones who would liberate France were the U.S., U.K, and Russia, it seems he didn’t get along well with these countries. and this de Gaulle is now a national hero. Again, I’m not saying running away wasn’t a smart move, but it still doesn’t disprove the “pussy” label.
The history I learned does have a few Frenchmen resisting the occupation. I’m willing to grant you that those 5% or so may have been brave. but the 95% who didn’t really seem to do much about their country being taken over by the Nazis, and the large percentage of those that later tried to claim that they were part of the resistance when they weren’t, well, brave isn’t the adjective I’d use.

To the hundreds of thousands of Americans and Brits who lost their lives liberating the French in World War II, I greatly admire their bravery. Maybe that’s a thought (especially since it’s so recent) that’s more worthy of mention than the French help in the 1700s. or maybe the British and American lives lost in World War I, again helping the French, are also more worthy of remembrance.

Maybe not. maybe it’s my history teachers that misguided me.
