I think Rathergate is a good opportunity to add another new word to the English language, following in the footsteps of “fisking” and “dowdification”. I suggest the following:

rath·er    verb: to assert the truth of an obvious falsehood in flagrant defiance of observable fact.

Example usage: “Oh, ignore him. He’s rathering again.”

One Response to “Neologism Of The Day”
  1. Al says:

“… of observable fact, specifically when following the creedo ‘The End justifies the Means'”.

Or, ‘in serving your political ideology’.

    “He’s a rathering idiot.”

Mary Mapes is allegedly the one that’s worked on this for 5 years wandering around asking “Have you seen memos like this?”.

She probably deserves memorialization as well.
